The UW Law School's Frank J. Remington Center has announced the 2003 winners of two awards recognizing excellence in clinical legal work. Byron Lichstein has won the Catherine Manning Award, and Ann Roedel has been awarded the Melvin Friedman Memorial Scholarship.

In winning the Catherine Manning Award, Byron Lichstein was recognized by a vote of the faculty of the Remington Center for his competence, thoroughness, skill in legal research and writing, and most importantly, commitment to clients. Lichstein is a second-year student at the Law School. His work for the Remington Center's LAIP program was described as outstanding.

Ann Roedel is the winner of the Melvin Friedman Memorial Scholarship, presented annually to an outstanding student working for the Wisconsin Innocence Project. Roedel, a third-year student who has worked with the Innocence Project for two years, was commended for her reliability and creativity, and for holding together several large cases through determination and persistence.
