On May 1, 2003 -- Law Day -- the University of Wisconsin Law Library released its newest online reference service, AskLaw Live. The UW Law Library is one of the first law school libraries in the nation to offer this type of service, which allows patrons to initiate a conversation online with a law librarian who can give recommendations and help with a search in an electronic resource.
With AskLaw Live, a librarian can (with permission) control a patron's browser and construct a search, thus providing instant help.
AskLaw Live will be installed on all of the computers in the Library's computer lab and on many of its other public computer workstations. The service is also available through home computers. This spring and summer, the service will be available Monday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.
The AskLaw Live service is available to all UW Law School students, faculty, and staff. All other library patrons will continue to use the Library's in-person or phone reference service (608-262-3394).
For more information, see the AskLaw Live Web site at http://library.law.wisc.edu/asklawlive/ .
