The UW Law School Office of Career Services is spreading the word that judicial clerkships are not only for new graduates. If you are a recent graduate, or someone who has been practicing for a number of years, you should consider applying for a judicial clerkship, says J.D. Adviser Kristin Davis.

"In the past few years, more and more federal and state judges have been hiring clerks who have some ?real world? experience," Davis says. "Indeed, some judges will only consider applicants who have been out of law school for a year or more. Clerkships can be particularly ideal for anyone who is considering leaving a job, but needs a transitional year or two to regain focus, make new contacts, or learn about different areas of law."

Anyone interested in learning more about judicial clerkships is invited to visit the Career Services Web site at http://www.law.wisc.edu/career/JudicialClerkships.htm or to contact Kristin Davis in the Career Services Office at 608-262-6444 or kristindavis@wisc.edu .
