Jennifer Grissom (2L) and Joel Plant (1L) have been selected as Children's Justice Project Fellows for 2004. The newly established fellowship program has been made possible by an award to the CJP from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the UW Law School, to provide support for students working in the area of children's law during the summer.

Jennifer Grissom will be working in the Dane County Corporation Counsel's office on termination of parental rights cases in CHIPS (children in need of protection and services) cases and child support enforcement. Joel Plant will be working at People Against Domestic Abuse (PADA), an organization in Jefferson, WI, which is focused on providing legal representation and advocacy to victims of domestic violence.

In addition, CJP has provided a grant to Janel George (2L) in recognition of her dedication to public interest law involving domestic violence as it affects children. She will be working at the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, DC.

Members of the CJP 2004 Fellowship Selection Committee include: Professor Leslie Shear, Ben Winnig, Hannah Renfro-Sargent, Notesong Srisopark Thompson, Eileen Huie and Sarah Helvey.
