UW law professor Ann Althouse has been in the news, both local and national, repeatedly in the last year as a result of her much-visited Web log (blog). In February 2005, the blog logged more than one million visitors, who come to read the latest opinions in Althouse's ongoing journal dealing with law, politics, and diverse topics of the day.

The subtitle of Althouse's blog is "Politics and the aversion to politics, law and law school, high and low culture, and the way things look from Madison, Wisconsin."

Althouse's blog has been included in two New York Times articles (October 14 and November 2, 2004).  She has spoken on local radio on the phenomenon of blogging, and was the subject of a Capital Times feature on February 16, 2005, "Law prof's Web log one of most popular." The front page of the newspaper that afternoon included Althouse's photo with the caption "Queen of Blogs."

The Capital Times noted that according to the ranking data compiled by Truth Laid Bear --
