The 19th annual Coming Together of Peoples Conference will be held Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, 2005, organized by the University of Wisconsin Law School Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA).
The two-day event includes five panels on legal topics, a Friday night banquet, and the UW-Madison's annual Wunk Sheek Pow Wow on Saturday at the Kohl Center.
The annual banquet, which will precede the talk, will take place at the Madison Howard Johnson hotel on Friday, April 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. To purchase banquet tickets ($20 general admission, $10 for students), send an e-mail to Sunshine Lemieux, slemieux@wisc.edu .
Following the banquet will be the keynote speech, to be delivered by Charles Wilkinson, Professor of Law at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Professor Wilkinson's speech, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 8 to 9 p.m., also at the Howard Johnson hotel.
The day and a half of panels, which begin at 10 a.m. Friday and continue until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Law School, include Developments in Indian Employment Law, Indian Gaming, Ethics in Indian Law, Environmental Issues in Indian Country, and Same-Sex Marriage in Indian Country.
