UW Law School Clinical Professor Marsha Mansfield was featured in the June, 29, 2005, issue of the Wisconsin Law Journal(WLJ) in the special section “Women in the Law.” The journal periodically produces the supplemental section recognizing women who have succeeded in the legal profession.
Mansfield, who is currently president of the Dane County Bar Association, spent most of her legal career with Lawton & Cates, S.C., practicing family law, consumer law, and plaintiffs’ civil litigation. She came to the Law School clinical faculty in 2002, and has been a supervising attorney with the Consumer Law Litigation Clinic and the Neighborhood Law Project since 2002. She is director of the Law School’s newest clinic, the Family Court Assistance Project (originally named the Divorce Court Assistance Project).
The WLJ article commends Mansfield’s contribution to the UW Law School’s clinical programs and her significant participation in the Dane County Bar Association. In addition to her current position as president, she chaired the Delivery of Legal Services Committee for two years.
The Family Court Assistance Project, which Mansfield initiated, was the focus of a story in the September 22, 2005, edition of The Capital Times. The article discusses the student experience along with the contribution the program is making in the Madison community.
