The Frank J. Remington Center of the UW Law School is co-sponsor of a “Returning Prisoner Simulation Program,” organized jointly by the Social Action Committee of Temple Beth El and the Madison-area Urban Ministry (MUM), to be presented Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 5:30 pm at Temple Beth El, 2702 Arbor Drive in Madison.

The event is open to the public.  Admission cost is $10, which includes materials and a light supper.

During the evening, participants will learn about the difficulties that returning prisoners face in re-entering society and about the impact on everyone in the community.  The program will begin with the documentary Today’s Prisoners, Tomorrow’s Neighbors and then present a simulation activity in which participants take on the identity of a parolee in his or her first month back in the community. The evening is expected to be an eye-opening opportunity to walk in the shoes of a former prisoner.

The event will end with a debriefing, allowing participants to exchange ideas on their own potential roles in assisting returning prisoners’ re-entry.
