MELSA, the Middle Eastern Law Students Association of the University of Wisconsin Law School, has elected new officers for 2006-07.
Leading the group will be President Diana Fakhrai.
Vice President for Academic Affairs will be Helmi Hamad, and serving as Vice President for Community Affairs will be Soniya Yunus.
The new Treasurer is Hazem Isawi, Secretary is Claudette Torbey, and representative to the Legal Education Opportunities (LEO) Program will be Aisha Concha.
MELSA was founded in the 2005-06 academic year to provide representation for law students of Middle Eastern heritage. Members reflect the diversity of cultures comprising the Middle East, including students with Turkish, Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi, Iranian, and Pakistani backgrounds.
