Kristela Cervera, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School Class of 2001, has been appointed one of two new Milwaukee Municipal Court commissioners.

Cervera worked most recently as a legal counsel for the Milwaukee County Department of Child Support Enforcement. As a student at the UW Law School, she was president of the Latino/a Law Students Association and an intern with the Frank J. Remington Center’s Prosecution Project.

Cervera and Dominique Beck, a Marquette Law School graduate, will join Herman John and Lynn Hackbarth as the four commissioners who preside over court proceedings that include cases involving defendants in custody at the Criminal Justice Facility and pre-trial conferences for traffic matters.

Cervera and Beck were sworn in for their one-year terms on October 13, 2006, by Judge Derek Mosley at the Municipal Court.
