University of Wisconsin Law School Associate Professor Thomas W. Mitchell has been named by the American Bar Association to its Property Preservation Task Force, which is actively involved in identifying the character and scope of, and possible solutions to, the nationwide problem of loss of property owned under the group ownership structure known as "tenancy in common" or "heirs’ property".

The task force, which is a committee established by the Real Property, Probate and Trust section of the ABA, is developing a multidimensional strategy in its efforts to make property ownership more stable for low-income and minority communities.

Mitchell was invited to join the task force based upon both his research on the problems of tenancy-in-common property and his experience in developing clinical programs addressing the needs of low-income and minority communities.
