"Life as a Lawyer: Striving for Balance," a three-hour ethics program, will be presented December 2, 2006, at the UW Law School, sponsored by the Law School’s Resource Center on Impaired Driving in cooperation with the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Lawyer Assistance Program and the Dane County Bar Association.
The program is approved for three CLE ethics credits.
Speakers will include Attorney Tim Edwards, Attorney Bill Weigel of the Office of Lawyer Regulation, and Dr. Greg Van Rybroek of the Mendota Mental Health Institute. Edwards will address substance abuse issues, Weigel will speak on how to avoid lawyer grievances, and Van Rybroek will discuss dealing with stress and burnout as a lawyer.
The event will take place in Room 2260 (Godfrey & Kahn Hall) of the Law School from 9 a.m. to noon, with coffee and refreshments provided.

"The program is designed to address issues of stress, burnout, depression, chemical dependency, and avoiding grievances," comments Nina J. Emerson, director of the Resource Center on Impaired Driving. "These are all timely topics, but especially at the beginning of the holiday season."
