UW Law School professor John Ohnesorge was an invited speaker at this year’s Rudolph C. Barnes Sr. Symposium,  held February 2-3, 2007, at the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina.

This year the Barnes Symposium topic was "Legitimacy, Legal Development & Change." Ohnesorge, whose areas of specialization include East Asia and law & development, joined the panel "Asian Economic Law Development & China."

Ohnesorge, Assistant Director of the UW Law School’s East Asian Legal Studies Center, wrote his Harvard S.J.D. thesis on the topic "Western Administrative Law in Northeast Asia: A Comparativist's History," and has written extensively on law and economic development in East Asia. 

More than 35 prominent authorities from around the globe were invited to share their expertise during this two-day event. Participants comprised a distinguished group of scholars, academic and military lawyers, and legal development practitioners.
