University of Wisconsin Law School Professor John Ohnesorge will present a paper Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the 48th annual conference of the International Studies Association in Chicago. Ohnesorge is one of five scholars on the panel "Legal Governance in East Asia."

The interdisciplinary panel will bring together both political scientists and legal scholars to examine the causes and consequences of law and legal institutions in East Asia across diverse political, economic, and social issues. Through five focused papers, the panel will explore themes including the role of and consequences for state, non-state, and corporate actors in East Asia today.

Ohnesorge’s paper is titled "Convergence, or a Failure to Communicate? Regulatory Reform East and West."

Ohnesorge, whose areas of specialization include East Asia and law & development, is Assistant Director of the UW Law School’s East Asian Legal Studies Center. He holds an S.J.D. from Harvard Law School, and has written extensively on law and economic development in East Asia.
