D. Daniel Sokol, a William H. Hastie Fellow at the University of Wisconsin Law School, will present a working paper on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at a World Bank workshop in Washington, D.C., and will repeat his presentation Friday, March 2, at a joint Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development/Inter-American Development Bank conference.
Sokol's analysis (conducted with Professor Kyle Stiegert of UW's Agricultural & Applied Economics Department and Professor Michael Nicholson of Transylvania University) assesses the impacts of the technical assistance given by international donors and/or competition agencies in advanced industrial countries to recipient competition agencies in developing countries, and identifies some of the criteria for success.
Sokol, who holds degrees from Amherst, Oxford, and the University of Chicago, focuses his research interests on business and corporate law, international trade, and antitrust. His publications have appeared in law journals of the University of Chicago, University of Texas, Northwestern University, University of Virginia, and Brooklyn Law School.
Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin Law School in August 2005, Sokol was in private practice in Washington and Miami.
