The 2007 Chili Cook-Off organized by students of the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) at the University of Wisconsin Law School raised nearly $600 to benefit the school’s Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP). LRAP provides financial assistance to law students interested in working in public interest law.
Twenty entries were submitted for the popular Chili Cook-Off. When the tasting and judging were completed, the following winning dishes were announced:
Best Meat Entry: Wisconsin Chili (Laura Felmer)
Best Spicy Entry: Hot Damn! Chili (Kristin Zorbini)
Best Vegetarian Entry: Magic Chili (Nidhi Kashyap)
People's Choice: Winter White Chili (Kim Smith)
Several student organizations combined efforts during the UW Law School’s annual Community Justice Week, held March 5-10, to raise awareness and funds to benefit careers in public interest law. Fund-raisers will also help to support PILF summer grants given to students working in public interest summer programs.
The week's events included film screenings, fund-raisers and guest speakers. Prominent speakers included Wisconsin Senator Jon Erpenbach, Wisconsin Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, and former head of the California American Civil Liberties Union, Paul Hoffman.
