The Federalist Society of the University of Wisconsin Law School has elected officers for 2007-08. Serving as President will be Ryan X. Farrell.

Other new officers are:

Vice President for Public Relations: Michael Kelly

Treasurer: Aaron Werner

Highlights from the past year (2006-07) for the Federalist Society include:

-Debate on Gay Marriage with Jordan Lorence  of the Alliance Defense Fund, Washington, D.C.

-Lecture by Stephanos Bibas, former Supreme Court Clerk and University of Pennsylvania Professor: "Scalia: Unlikely friend to criminal defendants?"

-Debate: UW Law Professor Peter Carstensen vs. Washington, D.C. attorney Mark Behrens: Tort Litigation in the 21st Century

-Debate: Is Academic Free Speech Dead? Professor Howard Schweber vs. Greg Lukianoff, co-founder of FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education)

-Field Trip to Chicago-Northwestern for national symposium on "Morality and the Law"
