Chung-Lin Chen, an S.J.D. candidate at the University of Wisconsin Law School, has had a paper selected to be presented at the Thirteenth Annual North American Taiwan Studies Conference in June 8-10, 2007 , to be held this year at the UW-Madison.

Chen’s paper, “Transition from Family Paternalism to Autonomy in Taiwan : The Context of Health Information Law,” suggests ways to reform health information law in response to family paternalism and its transition in Taiwan .

Chen earned the Master of Legal Institutions (M.L.I.) degree from the UW under the auspices of the Law School's Graduate Programs division, and began his S.J.D. research in 2005. Professor Larry Church is his academic advisor.

The national conference, titled " Taiwan in the Nexus of 'Empires'," is being presented by the North American Taiwan Studies Association (NATSA).  Other major themes to be addressed at the conference include Political Corruption and Democratic Consolidation in Taiwan , Justice and Peace in Taiwan , and Reflection and Critique on Taiwan as an Information Society.
