A memorial gathering for UW Law School Professor Emeritus Samuel Mermin is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, at 10 a.m. at the University Club on the UW-Madison campus.  All Professor Mermin's colleagues, friends, and former students who are able to attend are welcome.

Anyone unable to attend who would like to share memories with those present is invited to send them to Professor Mermin's daughter, Katrina Mermin Whitfield, at katrina@nwhomes.info, or to his son Daniel, at djmermin@charter.net , in advance of October 13.

Samuel Mermin joined the University of Wisconsin Law School faculty in 1951 and retired in 1979.  He died on August 18th, in Asheville, North Carolina, a few days after his 95th birthday.

For many years after his official retirement, Professor Mermin remained active and productive as a scholar, maintaining an almost daily presence at the Law School. Until two years ago, he lived at Oakwood Village in Madison. Many will remember his wife, Lora, who predeceased him by a few years.

A memorial service for Professor Mermin in addition to the upcoming Madison gathering was held at Yale Law School in September.
