A one-day intensive workshop on South Asian Legal Studies will be presented Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the UW Law School on the day before the UW-Madison’s 36th annual South Asia Conference.

Co-hosting the event will be University of Wisconsin Law School Professors Mitra Sharafi and Marc Galanter, on behalf of the UW-Madison South Asian Legal Studies Working Group.

The pre-conference workshop aims to build a sense of community between scholars, particularly between those working on colonial versus post-colonial subjects; inside and outside of law schools; and inside and outside of institutions in South Asia.

Scholars from around the nation and the world will attend, including a number of senior legal figures from South Asia.

To learn about the conference schedule and participants, see http://southasiaconference.wisc.edu/preconf_2.html .
