University of Wisconsin Law School student Katherine Plominski 3L has been named the Alcohol Policy Coordinator for the City of Madison by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. The position, jointly funded by the city and UW-Madison, was instituted to create a proactive approach to alcohol-related issues on campus and in the community.
Plominski’s predecessor as Alcohol Policy Coordinator, Law School alum Joel Plant ‘06, was also a law student when selected as the first person to hold the position.
Plominski recently completed work as a Gary P. Hayes Intern for the Law School-based Center for Problem-Oriented Policing, working with the Madison Police Department and Dane County District Attorney’s Office to develop strategies for addressing stalking on the UW campus.
Mayor Cieslewicz commented in a press release, "Alcohol-related issues play a major role in public safety, neighborhood quality and other significant community concerns. As our new Alcohol Policy Coordinator, Katherine will help us continue to develop creative, proactive initiatives to address these issues. Like her predecessor, she will work to develop these initiatives with my office, university leaders, students, neighborhood residents, bar owners, public safety officials and other stakeholders."
Plominski will begin work in the position on October 29.
