The University of Wisconsin Law School Class of 2008 will participate in Commencement ceremonies on the afternoon and evening of Friday, May 16.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, an alumnus of the Law School’s Class of 1980, will be keynote speaker for the 1 p.m. "hooding ceremony," or "Presentation of the Colors," to be held at Monona Terrace in the downstairs Exhibit Hall.
Professor Howard Erlanger has been elected faculty speaker by the graduating class.
Student speakers will be Jon Beidelschies, Emily Long, Ifeyinwa "Ify" Offor, and Nan Wang.
The Law School’s Friday afternoon ceremony will be followed by the university’s graduation for the professional schools, to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Kohl Center on West Dayton Street.
Approximately 250 students will receive J.D. degrees in May 2008, with an additional number receiving Doctor of Juridical Science, Master of Laws, and Master of Legal Institutions graduate degrees.
