The University of Wisconsin Law School Class of 2008 participated in Commencement ceremonies on the afternoon and evening of Friday, May 16.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, an alumnus of the Law School’s Class of 1980, was keynote speaker for the 1 p.m. "hooding ceremony," or "Presentation of the Colors," at Monona Terrace on Madison's Lake Monona. Professor Howard Erlanger, who was elected faculty speaker by the graduating class, delivered the faculty address.

Student speakers were Jon Beidelschies, Emily Long, Ifeyinwa "Ify" Offor, and Nan Wang.

The Law School’s Friday afternoon ceremony was followed by the university’s graduation for the professional schools at the Kohl Center on the UW-Madison campus.

Approximately 250 students of the UW Law School received J.D. degrees in May 2008, with an additional number receiving Doctor of Juridical Science, Master of Laws, and Master of Legal Institutions graduate degrees.
