A number of University of Wisconsin Law School professors have been in the news recently as they share information on the way they deal with the issue of regulating student use of laptop computers in the classroom.
Professor Ann Althouse was interviewed for a June 13, 2008, Chronicle of Higher Education article polling proponents and opponents of laptop bans in the classroom, available at http://chronicle.com/free/v54/i40/40a00104.htm .
Althouse also addressed the issue in her blog, www.althouse.blogspot.com and on other online sites.
Both Althouse and Professor Anuj Desai were quoted in a Wisconsin State Journal article on June 25, 2008. Desai recently banned laptops in his classroom as a method of preventing distraction and increasing student participation. UW law professor Arthur McEvoy, who has had a laptop ban in effect for the past four years, was also interviewed.

Desai appeared on WORT Radio in Madison, on the "In Our Backyard" section, on June 25, 2008, to discuss his laptop ban. The interview can be accessed at http://archive.wort-fm.org/pls.php?mp3fil=30647 . (The portion with Desai runs from 5:23 to 11:55.)
Following Desai’s newspaper and radio appearances, the American Bar Association’s online ABA Journal published the article "UW Law Professor Who Banned Laptops Says He is Not a Luddite."
