PART-TIME JOB FOR NEXT SEMESTER (SPRING 2006) FOR TWO 2L AND 3L STUDENTSPosition: "Writing Tutor" for International Law Master's Students Hours: Average 5-6 hrs/wk Spring 2006 semester Pay $14.28/hour (PA rate) This position is also Work-Study eligible. Applications are being accepted now to fill two spots that will be available starting late January when the spring semester begins. There is no application form. If you are interested in applying, send an email expressing your interest with your resume attached and put a copy of your Law School transcript (unofficial version is fine) in the mailbox of East Asian Legal Studies Center (near Dean Robarts's office), or drop off at room 4312, Law School. Job Description: J.D. student edits research papers and other documents that are written by masters students at the Law School for whom English is not a native language, and then meets with students individually to discuss edits and comments and answer questions. Qualifications: * Preference in hiring is given JD students who have had some kind of experience, paid or unpaid, in editing papers and working with individuals; then to second year JD students with experience; then to third or second year students with limited or no experience. * Applicants should have excellent ability in English and legal writing as well as very good skills in interacting with people. * It is desirable if you have learned a second language, whether it is an East Asian language or not. Please state second language abilities either on the resume or in the cover letter. * Interested applicants may include a short writing sample (no more than 10 pages), specifically one that has evaluative comments from an instructor (e.g. a first draft of a memo or brief). The letter should state your current Law School level (2L or 3L) and should include your current address, telephone number, and email address, either as a letterhead or at the bottom of the letter, for reference. The cover letter may be addressed to the Center's Associate Director. (2) a resume. Hand in (3) a Law School transcript, official or unofficial. (If you know how to send it by email, fine; otherwise, you can get an unofficial transcript at the Peterson Administration Bldg.) We have openings for two writing tutors and would like to make decisions by the end of this semester (rolling basis). Decisions will be made largely on the strength of the documentation in the application packet. Interviews will be scheduled as needed.
