From June 12 through June 30, the Law School runs a 1/2 day program for middle school students. The class is an interactive workshop for 20-25 middle school students. Most students are students of color from low income homes. The workshop is called "Law & Your Life". It's part of the campus PEOPLE program. This program provides summer educational opportunities for students from sixth through 11th grades. Students who complete the entire program and are admitted to the UW-Madison as undergraduates receive tuition remissions when they attend as undergraduates. We hold the workshops at the Law School. The PEOPLE program pays $500 per week for each of the three weeks. The full wages are paid at the end of the three weeks. The Law student hired to work with these students must develop the curriculum. I have samples of work done in prior workshops to use as curriculum starters. If you are interested in this job, send a resume and short personal statement to Ruth Robarts by March 25. I will not be able to interview all applicants, but I will make a hiring decision before the end of March.
