February 13-24, 2006 Organizing and drafting the research memo and begging course outlines are common reasons for 1Ls to use the IIS right now. Appointments Appointments are available each weekday. The times available vary from day to day, but generally are between 10 and 3:00, later on Wednesday. To reserve a time, go to room 2378. All the available times are posted there, and you can sign up for the one you want. If you can’t come in to sign up, e-mail mbray@wisc.edu, giving a list of the times you are available. Workshops Organization for Persuasion In this workshop, you’ll learn how a persuasive focus affects your organization and other aspects of writing your first draft. The workshop includes examples of ways to organize paragraphs and begin your argument. Monday, February 13, at 1:20 in room 3247. Wednesday, February 15, at 12:05 in room 3260 Writing Persuasive Sentences This workshop shows you how to adapt and bend the rules about clear sentence structure to create sentences that emphasize key points. These techniques are particularly useful for writing persuasive statements of fact, but also apply to argument sections. Monday, February 20, at 1:20 in room 3247.
