February 27-March 10, 2006 During the next weeks, you will be drafting your trial level brief, keeping up with other classes, outlining for exams, and perhaps job hunting. Rather than letting any of these tasks worry you, you can sign up for an IIS appointment to get advice and help on any of the writing, organizing, or reading challenges you that you face during these busy weeks. Appointments Usually one 30-minute session is enough to get the answers you need. Improving exam performance usually takes a series of appointments. But either way, getting some advice on how to solve the problem is less stressful than worrying on your own. And sessions are always confidential unless you choose to coordinate them with your professor. Appointments are available each weekday, and you can reserve one simply by signing up in room 2378 any time the library is open. Signing up is the fastest way to get an appointment, but you can also e-mail your request to mbray@wisc.edu. Workshops Writing Techniques for Persuasive Emphasis This workshop shows you how word choice, sentence structure, and paragraph organization techniques can work together to emphasize favorable facts and minimize unfavorable ones. Although the techniques apply equally in the argument, the examples and focus in this workshop will mostly be related to fact statements. This workshop helps you see your resume as your reader does, which helps you make better format and content choices. It also helps you create a cover letter than sounds more individualized. If you have a resume you have used in the past, bring it to the workshop. Monday, March 6, at 1:20 in room 3247 Wednesday, March 8, at 12:05 in room 3260
