Mark Sidel spoke on "Disciplining Altruism: The Rise of Regulatory Restraints on Volunteering in Asia," at a conference on comparative aspects of volunteering law and policy convened by the Manchester China Institute at the University of Manchester in June. His policy brief on these issues, focused on China, the Phillippines and Vietnam, is being published by the conference organizers.
