Biography
Michelle Yun is Senior Director, Senior Counsel at Mainspring Energy, Inc., a clean energy tech start-up based in San Francisco, California. Michelle brings over a decade of in-house legal energy experience to Mainspring, providing legal counsel in areas including supply chain, cybersecurity, governance and compliance, labor and employment, IT contracts, regulatory, project delivery, energy markets, federal contracting, engineering, and safety.
Prior to her work at Mainspring, Michelle held in-house legal leadership roles at Alliant Energy, where she served as Assistant Corporate Secretary and led Corporate Strategy, and Exelon Corporation and Constellation, where she served as Assistant General Counsel.
Before attending the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she earned the Sonnet Schmidt Edmonds Award for Excellence in the Study of Energy Law and the Ray and Ethel Brown Award for Character, Leadership, and Service, she worked as an engineer for Exelon Nuclear. Michelle earned a chemical engineering degree from Princeton University, with a certificate (minor) in materials science and a focus on corrosion in steam generator-based power plants.
Michelle enjoys finding new ways to entertain her two young children with her husband. She runs Tipping the Scales, a program that brings high school students from underrepresented groups into legal spaces in the Madison community, such as courtrooms, law offices, and the Capitol, to help young people understand there is space for everyone in the legal bar.
