Biography
Renagh O’Leary is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School. She teaches and writes in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure. Her scholarship has appeared or is forthcoming in the Iowa Law Review, the UC Davis Law Review, the North Carolina Law Review, and the Wisconsin Law Review. Two of her articles have been honored in the annual AALS Criminal Justice Section's Junior Scholars Paper Competition: Compassionate Release and Decarceration in the States (2022) and Supervising Sentencing (2024).
Before joining the UW Law School faculty, O'Leary was a trial attorney at the Bronx Defenders, a public defender’s office committed to an innovative model of holistic representation. She received her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was a Comments Editor for the Yale Law Journal and received the C. LaRue Munson Prize for her clinical work. She received her B.A. in political science, with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan.

Renagh O'Leary was a panelist in a discussion of Wisconsin's sentence adjustment process at the Wisconsin Judicial Conference's Annual Meeting on Nov. 3, 2022.
Renagh O'Leary presented "Beyond Burnout: Teaching Engagement" and "Compassionate Release and Decarceration in the States" at the AALS Conference on Clinical Education in April.
