Biography
Perla J. Rubio Terrones is currently a Clinical Instructor at the Immigrant Justice Clinic. She graduated as a first-generation graduate student from the University of Wisconsin Law School in May of 2020 where she also worked as a clinical law student and a project assistant in the IJC and served as a volunteer coordinator for the Community Immigration Law Center. During her time in IJC, she has represented non-citizens in immigration court and in front of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. She also coordinates experiential learning trips to the border to assist women and children in immigration detention.
Prior to law school, she graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor’s in Political Science and a minor in Communications. During her undergraduate degree, she worked as a college guidance teacher in a low-income high school and as a visitation specialist for YMCA. She also volunteered in various nonprofit organizations and was very active in her local community.
She was born in El Paso, TX, but raised across the border in the City of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico by immigrant parents. Since a young Latina girl, she's passionate about serving others, especially those marginalized and underrepresented. She enjoys playing soccer, singing, and dancing and currently leads worship with her husband in their local Hispanic church. Perla feels honored to be part of UW Law and looks forward to working with the WI's immigrant community.
