A long line of pioneering women are part of our UW Law community — from our first female graduate, Belle Case La Follette in 1885; to Velvalea Phillips ’50, first female African-American graduate, and Marygold Melli ’51, first female tenured faculty member; Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson ’62, the first woman ever to serve on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Tammy Baldwin '89, Wisconsin's first female U.S. Senator, and Margaret Raymond, the Law School's first woman dean.
Read more about these remarkable UW Law School women in a special edition of Gargoyle Alumni Magazine.
