Rebecca Scheller ’07, Associate Dean for Admissions & Financial Aid for the past 16 years, has taken on the additional responsibility of Chief Administrative Officer at University of Wisconsin Law School.

Dean Scheller succeeds Associate Dean for Administration Bethany Pluymers, who retired July 5 after nearly 25 years at UW Law. She will remain the top leader of Admissions & Financial Aid and Graduate Programs while also handling new areas of Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities. Lori Hickman ‘05 has been promoted to assistant dean to take on greater management of Admissions & Financial Aid.

“Dean Pluymers leaves behind a strong legacy of collaboration and leadership,” Scheller said. "While her shoes are impossible to fill, I’m delighted to assume this new role, particularly given the growing intersection between enrollment and finance. The IT, HR, facilities and finance portfolio is managed by an impressive slate of directors, and I’m thrilled to be working alongside them in addition to working with Dean Hickman as she manages the day-to-day of the admissions enterprise.”

Additionally, in May, Dean Scheller became chair-elect of the Law School Admission Council’s Board of Trustees (LSAC) – the first non-dean chair in a decade.

Founded in 1948, the national not-for-profit organization supports prospective law school applicants and law schools across the nation. LSAC provides services and solutions designed to enhance student outcomes and support legal professionals throughout their careers.

“We are deeply grateful to Dean Pluymers for a quarter-century of outstanding service to the UW Law community,” Dean Dan Tokaji said. “We will miss her wisdom, kindness, and administrative creativity, but are very fortunate that Dean Scheller has agreed to step into the role of Chief Administrative Officer. She is a visionary leader whose ideas, energy and strategic acumen will move UW Law to new heights.”
