Finals are here! Here are some tips from the experts to help you stay focused and take care of yourself over the next couple of weeks.

Prioritize sleep.
You may feel compelled to stay up late, but sleep deprivation potentially reduces memory and concentration. Aim for sufficient rest—experts advise at least six hours if possible. If you are tired, a short nap can do wonders for restoring alertness.

Move throughout the day.
Even a brief walk can improve focus and reduce stress. Taking ten minutes between study sessions can make a meaningful difference.

Choose nourishing food.
It may be tempting to rely on snacks and caffeine, but research suggests that the brain performs better with balanced nutrition, including fruits, vegetables, protein, and whole grains.

Study in focused intervals.
Research, including studies from the National Institutes of Health, suggests that the brain benefits from short breaks to consolidate information. Rather than long, uninterrupted study sessions, you could try working in focused blocks with regular pauses.

Reach out if you need support.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take advantage of the law school’s academic and mental health resources. Whether you need assistance with coursework or well-being, help is available.

Best wishes on your finals, and have a fun and restful break!
