This non-credit program is designed for international students at the undergraduate and graduate level, who are considering further study of law in the US such as an LL.M. program. The program will provide an introduction to the American legal system, legal research workshops, and lawyering skills exercises, supplemented with visits to a court, a law firm, and government agencies.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Milwaukee Brewers Concert on the Square S'mores night  

The program includes accommodation in university housing (double occupancy). 20 hours of law-related instruction and activities, covering a variety of topics such as Introduction to American Law, Legal Research and Lawyering Skills. Students will also visit the Capitol building including the Wisconsin Supreme Court and a local law firm. Several optional recreational activities. 6 breakfast vouchers, 2 hosted lunch and 1 dinner at the ballpark included.

The schedule is subject to change. University of Wisconsin Law School reserves the right to alter or cancel this program. Cancellation would occur if there is insufficient enrollment or unanticipated international events that inhibit University of Wisconsin Law School from being able to administer the program. If the program is canceled, all money advanced by the student shall be refunded.

Application and admission 

The UW Law School International Summer Program is open to international students at the undergraduate level. To be successful in the program, students need to have an intermediate to advanced level of English proficiency. 

UW Law School International Summer Program participants who earn admission to the UW Law School LL.M. Program before August 15, 2028 through the regular UW Law School graduate programs admission process will receive a scholarship of $1800 towards LL.M. tuition. This scholarship will be in addition to the scholarship offered to students and alumni of partner institutions.
