Preparing for your career in law? Here are a few resources to explore.
There are two departments in the law school you should visit for career advice and resources. Those are the Academic Enhancement Program (AEP) which collects study aids, vocational books and guides for students. Here is the link to those materials, https://www.libib.com/u/uwmadisonlawaep. and the Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD). OCPD provides resources and tools including assistance with resumes, cover letters, thank you notes and interviewing. It also provides job listings and networking resources.
The law library also has a collection of vocational guidance books for lawyers. To locate the full collection go to the UW catalog, select Advanced Search, scroll to subject in the menu box and type: law, vocational guidance. The list will default to relevancy but you can switch to the newest books in our collection by using the drop down menu tab at the top of the list. Select newest to oldest, this will change the list of books to date order.
Our most recent vocational guidance purchases are in the New Book Shelf Collection on the 5th floor of the Law Library across from the Copy Center while some books are available in the Reserve Collection behind the circulation desk for short term borrowing. The rest of the collection is located in the stacks. For a sample of recent purchases, select the link below to find the title in the online catalog.
