If your research involves Chinese law, be sure to explore PKUlaw. This database* has two components –ChinaLawInfo, the original Chinese version, and LawInfoChina, its English language counterpart that provides translations of key legal materials.
Content
Highlights of PKULaw include:
- Arguably the most comprehensive online collection of Chinese primary law, featuring national laws and regulations from 1949 to the present, selected case law with editorial enhancements, administrative regulations and rules, local statutes, circulars, guidelines from government agencies, and international treaties.
- A vast repository of additional information and legal documents, including academic articles, commentaries, the Law Yearbook of China which summarizes key legal developments, reports, speeches, and more.
- Regular updates and English translations of new legal materials as they become available.
Searching
On PKUlaw's English language platform, you can perform a simple keyword search across all content and filter your results by information type. Alternatively, select a category (e.g., Laws and Regulations, Judicial Cases, Law Journals, etc.) ahead of time and then run a search.
Advanced search features enhance precision by employing boolean connectors such as AND, OR, and NOT, and enabling users to combine fields like Title, Full Text, Issuing Authority, Date Issued, and Area of Law.
