Here at the reference desk, we often find ourselves helping patrons locate court records from either Wisconsin or other states- public patrons, professors, and cite-checkers alike.

Sometimes finding these records is easy-- and other times, not so much. Luckily, the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) has a handy listing of links to assist in state court records research.

For Wisconsin-specific court records research, Wisconsin Circuit Court Access for circuit court cases and Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals Access for appellate court cases are also helpful.

Additionally, for UW law school users, Bloomberg Law Docket Search is also incredibly useful- here’s a quick tutorial video with the low-down on how to search there.

As always, if you're having trouble, you can always come and ask us at the reference desk and we'll be happy to help you out!
