Welcome back to the Law Library, or for all you first year law students, just plain welcome! We're excited to see you all again and look forward to a great year with you.

The Law Library spent the summer working hard to be it's best self, with plenty of help from the staff here. As you return, we hope you'll notice some of the improvements we've put in place since you were here last May. But just in case you miss some of them, here is a pictorial essay on what we've done to spruce up the place - but first, here is a brief list of services that has NOT changed!

Wow, that is a great list of services and support if I do say so myself. However, we have plenty of new and updated areas too - let's check those out!

First, we have brand new carpet on most of the fifth floor! It's a vast improvement over the decades-old previous carpet and while it may not jump out at you right away, I think it's a big boost to the aesthetics of the library.

Next, we also have a new reference desk - now with better ways to visit and chat with the librarians, and more places for us to display our friendly and welcoming attitude!

Thirdly, our Library Director Bonnie Shucha and other library staff created a display commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Hastie Fellowship (designed to support and encourage a more diverse set of law faculty). It's right near the entrance to the library on the 5th floor or in our Repository!

Next, we have so many more things to help support you than books. Our Circulation staff have pulled together a display of the unique items that are available to you, including phone chargers, book stands, standing desk, ping-pong paddles, portable power packs, games, and much more. You can see a sampling of these items in the display case near the entrance to the Quarles and Brady Reading Room (with the mural).

Finally, we also heard your suggestions and added more study space near the big floor-to-ceiling windows in the Habush, Habush, and Rottier Reading Room. We know that natural light is in demand and not common enough in the building, so we hope that these additonal tables will get you that much-needed space in a beautiful space here in the library.

That's what we did this summer - and we're now ready to rock all year long! Stop by and say hello, enjoy the space, take advantage of the resources, and enjoy the first week of class.
