The Best Brief Competition is an annual event that recognizes outstanding legal writing by first-year students. The faculty teaching the Legal Research and Writing II course selected the best trial briefs written by their spring semester students. The students who wrote these briefs are competition semi-finalists. This year's semi-finalists are Caleb Baird, Allyson Berri, Augie Darrow, Emma Dzwierzynski, Geron Eatherly, Halle Geiger, Joshua Gienapp, Lindsey Govan, Emily March, Madison Polack, Andrew Reed, Kaitlyn Spiegl and DeMarcus Williams.

Earlier this summer, a panel of Wisconsin attorneys evaluated the semi-finalists' briefs and determined the finalists. The finalists are Allyson Berri, Emma Dzwierzynski, Lindsey Govan, Andrew Reed and Kaitlyn Spiegl.

For the last phase of the competition, a panel of Law School faculty are evaluating the finalists' briefs. They will determine the winner, who will be announced in September 2024.

Congratulations to the students nominated to participate in the 2024 Best Brief Competition!
