Linda Greene, Evjue-Bascom Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School, is the 2007 UW-Madison recipient of the UW System 13th Annual Outstanding Woman of Color Award.
In addition to her teaching in the areas of Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Legislation, Civil Rights and Sports Law, Greene has been a civil rights attorney, Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, President of the Society of American Law Teachers, Chair of the American Association of Law Schools Section on Minority Groups, and a well-known political and legal analyst for print, radio, and television. From1999 to 2004 she served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UW-Madison.
Joining Greene at a reception and awards ceremony April 7, 2008, will be the following winners of a new award, the First Annual UW-Madison Outstanding Women of Color Award:

Mary Layoun, Professor of Comparative Literature
Jackie DeWalt, Director of the PEOPLE Program
Susana Lastarria-Cornhiel, Senior Scientist, Urban and Regional Planning
Patricia Tellez-Giron, MD and Assistant Professor, Family Medicine and Wingra Family Medical Center
Laura Klunder, MSW, Residence Hall Manager at University Housing
The celebration on Monday, April 7, will take place in the Main Lounge, Memorial Union,800 Langdon Street, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 5 p.m. Those who plan to attend are asked to respond to Paula Gates, gates@bascom.wisc.edu or 265-5228.
