John Pray and Keith Findley have been named 2004 Leaders in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal in recognition of the work of the Wisconsin Innocence Project, which they co-direct, in bringing about the exoneration of Steven Avery, a Wisconsin man who served 18 years in prison for a sexual assault he did not commit.

Findley and Pray received the award jointly in Milwaukee at a ceremony honoring them and the 11 other recipients of this year's award.

Wisconsin Law Journal publisher Ann Richmond comments, "This year's Leaders in the Law have used their time and talents in many different ways, improving the practice of law in our sate and improving life in their communities. The Wisconsin Law Journal is proud to take this opportunity to shine the spotlight on a few members of the legal profession whose efforts represent some of the best from our legal community.

The UW Law School was also represented among last year's recipients of the annual award when Meredith Ross was named a 2003 Leader in the Law for her work in directing the Frank J. Remington Center.
