Alta Charo has been named to the Standing Committee on Aerospace Medicine and the Medicine of Extreme Environments at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. It meets with NASA staff to discuss issues such as hazardous exposures, health risks and ethical issues faced in short and long-term exploration spaceflight.
