Biography
Lori Hickman (she/her) joined the Law School in 2020 and serves a dual role on the UW Law Admissions & Financial Aid team as Director of Scholarship Administration & Recruitment. Lori is actively involved in the recruitment and admissions process for the UW Law J.D. program, while also leading the financial aid advising team and overseeing financial wellness programming for J.D. students. Before joining the law school, Lori spent fourteen years in private practice at a law firm in downtown Madison.
Lori earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. While in law school, she was an active part of the law school community, including service on the executive board of the Children’s Justice Project and on the Wisconsin Women’s Law Journal (now the Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender and Society). As a UW Law student, Lori’s clinical experiences included the Family Law Project, the Restorative Justice Project, and the Public Defender Project.

Multiple UW Law faculty were honored at the Association of American Law Schools 2026 Annual Meeting in New Orleans on January 6-9: Bonnie Shucha, Law Libraries and Legal Information Section Award; Elizabeth Mertz, Judith Welch Wegner Award (Section on Empirical Study of Legal Education and the Legal Profession); Lori Hickman, Heidi Johnson, and Abigail Rubeor, Financial Aid Change Maker Award (Section on Pre-Law Education and Admission to Law School) and Scholarly Papers Competition finalists Christopher Lau, for “Shadow Forensics: Uncovering 911 Call Analysis,” and Lisa Washington, for “Beyond the Carceral Frame” (forthcoming).
