Biography
Kate Finley is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Remington Center and she directs the Second Look Clinic, which seeks sentencing relief for people serving excessive prison sentences. Her scholarship examines second look resentencing and the legal construction of victims, drawing on both domestic and international criminal law frameworks. Her article on evidence in second look resentencing proceedings is forthcoming in the Brooklyn Law Review.
Prior to joining the Law School, Finley was a clinical fellow for the Criminal & Youth Justice and Child Advocacy clinics at Rutgers Law School-Newark. Professor Finley previously worked for the International Criminal Court's Chambers (Trial Divison) in The Hague from 2009 to 2014. She is also a former public defender who represented clients in Baltimore and Montgomery County, Maryland. Finley received her J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Kate Finley published "Prison Evidence" in April 2026. The paper is forthcoming in the 92 Brooklyn Law Review 2.
