Founded in 1990, the East Asian Legal Studies Center supports faculty and student research on East Asian legal issues. This includes:
- organizing talks and conferences on campus,
- hosting visiting scholars from East Asia,
- developing and maintaining academic partnerships in East Asia, and
- promoting East Asian legal studies at the UW and beyond.
EALSC has led UW Law School's activities in East Asia, where it has established extensive partnerships with academic institutions and initiated or co-sponsored a variety of conferences and outreach programs. EALSC formalized and expanded many of the Law School's academic interactions with universities, government ministries, and the private sector. It hosts visitors to the Law School and assists Law School faculty with visits to universities in East and Southeast Asia. Learn more about the history of EALSC »
